About the Role
The Legal Department Internship is designed to provide experience to current law school students interested in sports and entertainment law. The Legal Department intern is a self-starter who will learn how to provide legal support, advice and counsel to the New York Red Bulls organization and its soccer-related operating affiliates in the United States. Specific responsibilities include assisting in the preparing, reviewing and negotiating of a wide variety of commercial agreements, as well as assisting in the handling of sportive matters.
Job Description
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Learn about the drafting, reviewing and negotiating of a variety of sponsorship agreements, sales agreements, vendor/service agreements, and license agreements.
Learn how to manage disputes, litigation and regulatory matters on an as needed basis with the support of outside counsel.
Gain experience performing analysis of rules, regulations and policies applicable to the companies’ operations, including those of MLS, USL, US Soccer Federation and FIFA, and advise management on interpretation and compliance.
Learn how to advise management on risk and insurance matters with the assistance of the internal Risk Management team.
Gain experience as an in-house legal generalist
Qualifications
Must have completed first-year studies at an accredited law school in the NYC metro area
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Excellent issue identification skills, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Detail oriented with excellent multitasking and organizational skills.
Mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to conduct web-based and other research and investigations.
