About the Role

Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage efforts by the Compliance staff to interpret rules, research case precedent and seek interpretive confirmation from the NCAA and BIG EAST. Responsible for monitoring compliance with NCAA legislation for the entire University community, specifically in the areas of personnel, recruiting, camps and clinics, student-athlete eligibility, name image and likeness (NIL), financial aid, playing seasons, amateurism and athletic administrative regulations. File waivers for legislative relief and medical hardships, and report violations of NCAA bylaws to the NCAA.
Serve as liaison between athletics to offices including Admissions, Financial Aid, Division of Student Life, Internal Audit, Office of Title IX and Civil Rights Compliance and the General Counsel’s office. Active participation and leadership on various NCAA and Big East Conference committees, in addition to the appointments to specific University entities including but not limited to the Student Athletes Compliance Committee and the Athletics Board
Be an active and contributing member of the department’s leadership team who oversees other units in the athletic department and serves as a sport administrator for select Olympic sports.
Educate coaches, staff, student-athletes and University community on BIG EAST/NCAA legislation and institutional policies through regular in-person group meetings, team meetings, newsletters, social media and electronic correspondence.
Oversee financial aid agreements and renewals for all sport programs. Assign and distribute all athletic endowed and annual scholarship awards to student-athletes, degree completion students, managers, graduate assistants, student workers, mascots and spirit participants. Collaborate with financial aid, development and university relations as needed to ensure proper reporting and accounting of all scholarships.
Oversee all NCAA reporting requirements, including APP, GSR, SVP, Sports Sponsorship & Demographic and ensure all NCAA communication and requirements of others on campus is appropriately communicated and managed

About the Company

The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance will oversee the athletic department’s compliance with NCAA and BIG EAST Conference legislation as it relates to intercollegiate athletics, and develops and implements policies and strategies to achieve compliance in conjunction with the University’s and department’s missions. This position reports directly to the athletic director and the university’s General Counsel. This position also is responsible for assisting with educating the department of University policies and ensuring proper reporting of compliance related issues to the President. This position is also currently structured to oversee other units in the athletic department and serve as a sport administrator for select Olympic sports. The extent of this oversight will depend on the candidate’s experience.
