About the Role
Overview
The Associate General Counsel, Contracts will serve as a trusted advisor and business partner to the company, with a particular focus on contracts and data/privacy matters. In this role, the Associate GC, Contracts works with a variety of business units impacting important business decisions while carrying out the legal department’s mission to contribute to Planet Fitness’ success by I) providing clear, timely, thoughtful, professional and practical legal advice; II) recommending and implementing appropriate policies, practices and procedures to mitigate risk and control costs; III) being effective leaders with a focus on strategy, efficiency and collaboration; and IV) contributing to Planet Fitness’ fun, inclusive, and Judgement-Free culture.
Responsibilities
Negotiate, draft, review, manage, and advise on a wide variety of contracts including commercial vendor contracts, complex strategic partnerships, and membership-related agreements.
Assume primary responsibility for consumer protection compliance.
Assume primary responsibility for data and privacy-related issues.
Collaborate with business units to mitigate risk and respond to business challenges and opportunities.
Conduct legal research, provide advice, and present recommendations on various legal and business issues.
Draft, review, and update company policies and procedures necessary to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Stay up-to-date and advise stakeholders on relevant industry standards.
Stay abreast of current and pending changes in law potentially impacting the business.
