About the Role


Review, draft and negotiate a variety of agreements including marketing and sponsorship agreements, suite licenses, event contracts, technology and other commercial agreements, real estate agreements, non-disclosure agreements, service agreements and waivers.
Advise and assist on advertising and marketing initiatives, including sweepstakes, contests and promotions, privacy matters, including drafting rules, releases, and reviewing promotional and creative materials.
Assist with corporate governance and corporate finance matters, as requested.
Assist on all policy drafting, updates and compliance, including researching legal issues for the development and improvement of policies and procedures.
Support the management of pending and new litigation matters and other claims, including assisting with legal research and document production.
Review and interpret MLB governing documents, rules, regulations, policies, and memos to ensure compliance.
Ensure compliance with record retention, privacy and data protection laws and regulations.
Support business partners with respect to legal issues surrounding operations.
Help facilitate the day-to-day operations and workload of an in-house Legal Department.
Work closely with and assist Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel and Associate General Counsels.
All other duties, as assigned.


About the Company

The Counsel is a critical player in the Chicago Cubs Legal Department and will provide legal support to business units across the Chicago Cubs organization and its affiliated entities. The position will report directly to the General Counsel and will provide support on all legal matters, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating routine agreements and assisting in corporate and transactional workload. This position will require excellent business judgment, adept problem-solving and strategic thinking, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively in a collegial, fast-paced environment.
