About the Role
As a member of CLC’s Legal Department, the Senior Counsel will be responsible for managing the CLC’s trademark and other intellectual property work, including managing the team responsible for conducting brand protection, anti-counterfeiting, and anti-piracy efforts on behalf of 700+ collegiate institution partners. These efforts include managing online enforcement across various e-commerce marketplaces and social media sites, issuing cease and desist letters, and handling online takedowns through our third-party online technology partners.
Additionally, as the Legal Team’s primary liaison with CLC’s Marketing and Creative Teams, this role manages all legal matters involving CLC’s dynamic marketing, promotional, and advertising initiatives. Significant client engagement experience is strongly preferred, as this role routinely and proactively advises CLC’s collegiate institution partners on trademark enforcement strategy & portfolio management, and provides regular status reports and related updates regarding progress on ongoing brand protection activities.
Heavy transactional experience is a must, as this role will involve structuring, reviewing, drafting, and negotiating deals, including agreements with university partners, licensees, and vendors. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated and adept at spotting and analyzing complex legal and business issues on a deal-by-deal basis, protecting our clients with appropriate legal terms and conditions, as well as delivering high-quality legal services and advice to the business.
