The main responsibilities and oversights of the Sr Counsel of Event Legal for the FIFA World Cup 26™ include:
Oversee legal matters related to the FIFA World Cup 2026 event, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and FIFA requirements.
Manage and negotiate contracts with various stakeholders, including host cities, sponsors, broadcasters, vendors, and service providers.
Develop and implement legal strategies to protect the event's intellectual property rights and trademarks.
Identify and assess legal risks associated with the event and develop risk mitigation strategies.
Monitor and ensure compliance with FIFA regulations, codes of conduct, and ethical standards throughout the event planning and execution process.
Stay updated on relevant legal developments and industry trends to provide proactive legal advice and ensure compliance with evolving regulations.
Collaborate with external stakeholders, including government authorities, legal advisors, and law enforcement agencies, to ensure smooth operations and adherence to legal requirements.
Develop and deliver legal training programs and materials for event staff and volunteers to enhance legal awareness and compliance.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive legal records, contracts, and documentation related to the event.
Provide timely and accurate legal reports and updates to senior management and relevant committees.
Lead and manage the Event Legal department, providing guidance and professional development in order to make the team and tournament successful.
