About the Role

Here's how you'll have an impact:

Provide subject matter expertise and legal support on all People & Culture related matters, including benefit plans, investigations, reorganizations, job eliminations, promotions, terminations, work eligibility, etc. Oversee relationships with outside counsel on these matters as appropriate. Draft and negotiate agreements as needed, drawing on outside counsel and USOPC staff as appropriate. Support development of all relevant People & Culture policies.
Working directly with senior management, provide legal support to USOPC staff in operational matters, including without limitation drafting and negotiating vendor and supplier agreements, consulting and agency engagements, real estate agreements and operations, information technology agreements, and waivers.
Work closely and collaboratively with the USOPC Contracts Specialist in such agreements as well as the oversight of the contract management system.
Provide legal support to USOPC Paralympic NGB operations and the U.S. delegation to the Paralympic and Parapan American Games, including by:
Identifying and providing guidance to the USOPC and athletes concerning issues that may arise before or at the Games
Guiding USOPC Paralympic NGBs in operational questions and contract matters as they arise
Addressing NGB citizenship and immigration issues with the International Relations division
Supervise background checks, including administration of hearings on red light findings and follow-up as appropriate
Liaising with local legal counsel as appropriate to handle Games-related matters
Maintaining a relationship with the Court of Arbitration for Sport and attending to any arbitration matter that may arise or affect the U.S. delegation
Responding to athlete safety rule violations or issues that may arise at the Games
Provide legal support and guidance on policy and other matters for the Sports Medicine division, including by:
Providing guidance and assistance in ensuring compliance across Sports Medicine (and other USOPC divisions and functions, where applicable) with health and privacy related laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, COPPA, state medical regulations, state and federal privacy protection measures, etc.).
Drafting and negotiating national and regional medical network and other Sports Medicine agreements.
Providing guidance and support in the creation and updating of USOPC Sports Medicine policies, procedures, and forms.
Provide legal support and guidance on policy and other matters relating to Athlete Safety efforts, including by:
Developing relationships with U.S. Center for SafeSport staff.
Maintaining an understanding of applicable Athlete Safety legal and policy requirements impacting the Olympic and Paralympic community and offering comments and suggestions for consideration when they are revised.
Supporting updates of USOPC Athlete Safety policies and procedures as required.
Communicate, collaborate, and support the Deputy General Counsel on all legal matters. Provide guidance and support to other USOPC legal staff to ensure that efficient and effective cross-divisional legal decisions are implemented.
