About the Role

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Contract Management:
o Collaborate with staff to draft and review contracts, waivers and releases, and contest rules.
o Advise staff on contract status, risks, and potential liabilities associated with certain transactions.
o Provide legal and strategic business advice to ensure agreements are consistent with internal policies and processes.
o Develop, manage, and improve legal processes and standard form agreements, documents, and policies.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution:
o Assist in managing litigation and subpoenas, including responding to routine civil discovery requests.
o Interface with internal risk management and Safe Sport teams, as well as external brokers and insurance carriers.
o Support National Board of Review (NBOR) operations, specifically denials of membership due to violations of the USA Swimming Background Check Policy.
o Assist the Secretary & General Counsel with corporate governance responsibilities, including Bylaws oversight and preparation for Board of Directors meetings.
o Provide support to the Business Affairs Division for the drafting and organization of Board Monitoring Reports.
o Support the Secretary & General Counsel with facilitation of the Ethics, Governance, NBOR, Rules & Regulations, and Nominating Committees.
Additional Responsibilities:
o Provide counsel regarding intellectual property, data privacy, and employment.
o Liaise with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and USA Swimming’s international federation’s anti-doping staff regarding dispute resolution, as appropriate.
o Support the Business Affairs Division with government relations opportunities and special projects.
