Who are we hiring?

Supporting MSG Sports, the VP Counsel Legal & Business Affairs will provide legal representation for MSG Sports in connection with all aspects of business focusing primarily on the Teams (Knicks, Rangers, Counter Logic Gaming), Marketing, Ticketing, Event Presentation, Public Relations, Special Events and Creative Services as directed by the EVP, General Counsel. The VP Counsel Legal & Business Affairs will assist in-house and outside counsel with ongoing general matters for the sports division, as required in the day-to-day functioning of the Company and the Legal Department.

What will you do?

Handle a wide range of matters such as issues relating Knicks & Rangers Team Operations, Team Marketing, Event Presentation, Public Relations and Special Events and Ticketing.
Negotiate and draft various player and staff agreements, marketing, public relations and promotions-related agreements, including advertising, marketing and production agency engagements, cross-promotions, ticket agency agreements, merchandise manufacturing/distribution, photographer/videographer engagements and photo shoot/video productions, talent agreements, including Knicks/Rangers-related appearances/performances, software licenses, content and intellectual property licenses, real estate property leases, equipment agreements and other commercial contracts.
Provide advice with respect to NBA, NHL, and eSports league rules, collective bargaining agreements and strategic analysis and on all league business rules and initiatives.
Coordinate with various personnel throughout MSG Sports to help facilitate business initiatives, as well as liaising with other Departments (e.g., Risk Management regarding insurance/COI requirements, Finance, Facilities regarding union issues) to ensure compliance with company policies.
Advise and support the Sports Operations on a daily basis on a variety of advertising/marketing issues, including advising on telemarketing and privacy laws, reviewing advertising copy and creative, advising on social media platform rules and regulations, etc.
Partner with business executives, as well as colleagues in the legal Department, to discuss and implement best practices and formulate new processes in connection with business needs.
Address and respond to matters at the direction of the General Counsel and work with colleagues in the legal affairs group.
Demonstrated expertise in independently handling complex contractual and legal matters in the programming/entertainment field.
