Amer Sports, Wilson face baseball helmet concussion lawsuit

Amer Sports Co. and subsidiaries will defend in federal court a baseball player’s suit alleging his helmet failed to withstand the impact of a pitch, causing him to sustain a concussion and ear injury.

Ethan Firestone—a high school senior at the time and now a college baseball player at the University of Southern California—alleges the “sharp plastic edge” of the helmet “violently impacted” his head and lacerated his ear, requiring nine stitches, according to the lawsuit removed to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California Monday.
