Athletes Get Class Status as NCAA Faces Billions in Damages

Nov 4, 2023

The NCAA’s legal troubles worsened considerably Friday when U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken certified three damages classes for In Re College Athlete NIL Litigation.

Class certification turns the lawsuit from one brought by a few athletes (Arizona State swimmer Grant House, former Oregon and current TCU basketball player Sedona Prince and former Illinois football player Tymir Oliver) to one representing more than 14,500 athletes.

Their collective damages could be worth in the billions of dollars.
