Per Bloomberg Law: Restaurant franchisor McDonald's has failed to shake off a civil rights suit by a Black franchise owner and former major league baseball player who alleges the company targeted him for speaking out publicly about unfair treatment of Black owners.
The allegations of discriminatory conduct in Herbert Washington’s complaint are sufficient to survive McDonald’s motion to dismiss, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio said.
Washington, who now owns 14 McDonald’s restaurants, played for the Oakland Athletics baseball organization from 1974 to 1975.
