Watching last week’s Diamond Sports bankruptcy hearing, I was struck by the personal animus Major League Baseball and the RSN owner/operator have toward each other.

After nearly four hours of testimony between MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and Diamond Sports CEO David Preschlack, it is apparent the two sides don’t trust each other — so much so that it’s impossible to see how they will be able to bridge their divide.

An MLB lawyer accused the RSN group of looking to “blackmail” MLB at the start of the hearing last Wednesday, an extraordinary accusation leveled against a business partner.
