Western Michigan University reaches settlement in lawsuit over COVID-19 vaccine mandate for athletes

Western Michigan University reached a settlement Monday with 16 student-athletes that sued the school over its requirement that athletes receive a COVID-19 vaccine in order to participate in team activities.

As part of the proposed settlement, which Federal District Court Judge Paul L. Maloney had yet to sign as of Tuesday morning, WMU will agree to drop its vaccine requirement for the 16 student-athletes that challenged the policy on religious grounds.
