Responsibilities

Acquire and demonstrate substantive mastery of the CBA and league policies regulating the conduct of clubs and players.
Track a docket of pending Personal conduct Policy Violation.
Assisting in the investigation of potential policy violations and litigate hearings to enforce compliance with the Policies.
Draft and review policy directives for NFL players and Clubs.
Oversee the on-field discipline appeal process
Administer Anti-Tampering Policy and Remittance Policies; counsel clubs on obligations.
Review data and prepare reports regarding the administration of NFL policies.
Assist in the development of operations manuals for various policies and League functions.
Interact with outside law firms, consultants and others involved in the administration of NFL policies and/or litigation.
Assist in negotiations with the NFL Players Association.
Prepare legal memoranda for clubs regarding policy obligations.
Independently develop and maintain working relationships with club counsel and NFLPA representatives.

About the Company

Summary

The Associate Counsel will report to the NFL Deputy General Counsel, Labor and be responsible for development, negotiation and administration of our collective bargaining agreements with our unionized workforce, including representing the league and clubs in litigation under those CBAs. This Associate Counsel will be responsible for negotiation and administration of our player discipline policies (Personal Conduct Policy, Substance of Abuse Policy and Steroid Policy) including periodic review and update of all policies, drafting discipline notices and assisting in investigations of potential violations. The holder of this position may also represent the league in other arbitrations and litigation brought by or against the NFL or supervise outside counsel in the litigation of such matters. This counsel will also be responsible for supporting the NFL’s Health and Safety Department, including by serving as counsel to various scientific and medical committees and development and enforcement of player Health and Safety protocols. This critical role will require strong investigative and advocacy skills, and the ability to spot and solve issues related to the league policies.
