About the Role

Role & Responsibilities:

Help propel your team and its business partners to success.

This role is responsible for leading and advising on a range of complex commercial transactions and legal matters pertaining to: (i) sponsorship contracting (e.g., venues, sports, festivals, and other events); (ii) music/concert promotion, ticketing, and production contracting; (iii) other entertainment contracting, including talent and influencer contracting; (iv) service provider/supplier contracting, including media, production, and creative agencies; (v) music licensing and other types of content licensing (including images); (vi) review of advertising and marketing claims and press materials; (vii) offer terms development, including promotions, sweepstakes, contests, and giveaways; (viii) brand management; and (ix) certain publishing and media buying activities (with an emphasis on digital media).

Here’s just some of what you’ll do in this role:

Draft, review, and negotiate complex transactions/contracts with sophisticated counterparties in the areas of sponsorships (including venues, sports, festivals, and other events), entertainment (including concerts), talent and influencers, content licensing (including music, images, and other content), services providers/suppliers (including media, production, and creative agencies), and other related contracts (including releases).
Effectively collaborate with American Express colleagues, agencies, and other partners to draft, review, and negotiate contracts.
Develop term sheet and contract templates for use with sponsorships, entertainment, talent and influencer, service provider/supplier, and other related transactions. Maintain (as current) these and other contract templates for use by legal and business colleagues, including various types of releases. Develop guidelines to support use of those templates by legal and business colleagues.
Accurately and efficiently identify and classify risks (probability and impact) and support business colleagues to mitigate and manage those risks.
Communicate complex legal concepts and risks in a clear and concise manner while identifying innovative solutions to challenges in a collaborative solutions-oriented manner.
Review advertising and marketing materials/claims (including offer terms and disclosures) and associated materials; develop guidelines for such advertising and marketing, including social media posts and use of third-party content.
Draft terms for promotions, sweepstakes, contests, giveaways, and other offers. Draft appropriate disclosures for advertising and marketing materials.
Develop strong relationships of trust; generate buy-in (internal and external to American Express) on issues of importance to achieve enterprise objectives.
Leverage well-developed business acumen and a deep understanding of sponsorships, entertainment (including music), media, advertising, marketing, and brand management to advise business colleagues on initiatives, transactions, and challenges—and identify innovative and effective solutions to issues.
Collaborate efficiently with colleagues across the enterprise (at various levels of seniority) to receive and provide subject matter expertise relevant to the role.
Manage competing priorities and aggressive timelines/deadlines; be responsive and provide prompt support.
