Sports Industry Contract Updates for The End of July

As July comes to a close, so does a few highly anticipated deals. However, not without drama, as the battle between the NBA and TNT continues at full force.

 

  1. NBA Board of Governors approves media rights agreements.

    1. NYT

  2. NBA rejects TNT’s rival bid, stating the proposal did not match the terms of Amazon Prime Video’s offer.

    1. Warner Bros. Discovery, TNT’s parent company, is now suing the NBA for its “unjustified rejection” of Warner Bros.’ matching offer.

    2. Front Office Sports / NYT

  3. Willow Bay and Bob Igor secure controlling stake in Angel City FC.

    1. Bay and Igor will invest an additional $50M in the club. The franchise is valued at $250M.
